There is something to say about writing late at night that intrigues me. The black skies fill me with the bravery I don’t feel during the sunlight hours. Do you understand what I mean?

we are a
generation of
almost lovers,
gazing with
gleaming eyes
at the moon,
knowing she empathizes
with our same hearts
always missing each other
by nothing more
than those few minutes
that separate darkness
from daylight.

I love finding Instagram poets that have a book released. Lucky for me Zack Grey is always posting amazing posts on his Instagram and this book I’m about to review for you!
The poems in Dear Midnight are a mix between short and long poems written in free verse in 3 sections. What’s nice is that there is a variety of poems so no section feels too overwhelming. However, there are several occasions that the poems feel incomplete or as if you’re starting in the middle.
If you’ve ever been in love or experienced heartbreak, then this poetry collection is for you. The way that Zack Grey handles the elements with care and as a progression through the sections is wonder.
From the beginning, you can feel the emotion about falling in love then the heartbreak from that love. It is perfectly conveyed through the pages and it makes you feel like you’re experiencing it with the author.
Page Colors
The 3 sections in Dear Midnight are Sunrise, Sunset, and Midnight. These correlate with the colors each section takes. Sunrise is white with black text. Midnight is grey with black text. Sunset is black with white text. It’s a unique elements that I really enjoyed in this poetry collection.
Dear Midnight is for those hopeless romantics out there. If the push and pull of falling in love is something you yearn to read about I suggest reading this poetry collection. There is a lot of strong poems that are relatable and full of emotion. Though sometimes the poems feel incomplete, I enjoyed reading this collection. So go ahead and check out Dear Midnight.
