What are Influencers?
Influencers are people that have a reach to the public that people trust. Think of brands that you trust. These people are similar, but instead of a brand they are a name that people look toward for information.
Types of Influencers
For the book marketing plan we are looking at 4 types of influencers:
-Bloggers
-Social Media Posters
-Interviewers
-Events
Where can I find Reviewers?
To find a reviewer, you’re going to need some information about your book.
Genre
Page Count
Synopsis
Once you have this information, make sure you evaluate if a reader reads your genre. But what reader? You may be asking. You’ll want to find book blogs or book reviewers on Goodreads, and social media sites. This will take a lot of digging in order to find the right fit for your book. The effort is worthwhile because at the end of the day, you’ll have a list of people that may be able to influence others to read your book. (I’ve been influenced on many occasions to purchase books because of book blogs.)

Where can I find Interviewers?
Just like reviewers, some book bloggers hold author interviews. You can usually find this information on their website, if not use their contact page to ask. You can also do a Google search with your book’s genre to help aid you in your interviewer endeavor.
Where can I find Events?
This may be the hardest of all the categories I’m discussing today. Being a new author with little to no following isn’t going to make you the ideal candidate to be invited to events.
However, places in your local community may provide you an opportunity. Think of your public library or recreation center. You may be able to get a small table at a local fair where you can promote your book and maybe sell a few signed copies. Starting small is the best option and as your community starts promoting your work, you never know the next opportunities that will open up for you.
Getting your name out there is sometimes about a little risk but also can be rewarding. The best way to promote your book is by word of mouth. The more mouths that have influence over people will get more traction on your book. It may be difficult to get started. It may seem impossible. But my hope is that this post narrows down the difficulty in a way that will make it manageable as you create your marketing plan.
Stay tuned for next month’s topic where another new printable resource will be available! I’m super excited for this topic though it’s one that many people dislike. But maybe I can influence you to like it! 😉
Don’t forget you can grab the digital download or paperback of the Book Marketing Planner on the Bound to Writing Shop and get to work today. Or head on over to Amazon for a paperback.
