The journey was a long one with a few hefty bumps in the road. Then the pandemic hit, causing longer waits and even more uncertainty. But I pushed on with my audiobook narrator. Now, we are able to say that my debut novel, Not Like Everyone Else is an audiobook! And it’s for sale now or you can reach out as I have some free codes available.

I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when I set out to publish an audiobook. It was a big guessing game in the beginning. That is why I wrote the Amazon ACX Audiobook post so you can have an easier first time than I did. But I figured it out with a ton of research and some dead ends.

October 2019

I didn’t know what to expect but I started looking for narrators. No one auditioned at first.

November 2019

Found my narrator after much digging through potential narrators available on ACX. We set our contract and timeline.

January/February 2020

I received and approved the files for Not Like Everyone Else! Now to wait for ACX to approve the files.

April 2020

Finally receive word from ACX that the files have been rejected. Almost two months after the “30 day” review period. Within a few days my narrator corrected the issues and we were back to waiting for approval.

The Not Like Everyone Else audiobook releases!

The release didn’t go as planned because there was no way to determine when ACX would approve the files. I wanted to do a big release day and promotion, but with so many unknowns it was impossible.

The narrator for Not Like Everyone Else is the talented Christy Davis! She is incredibly helpful and made sure Not Like Everyone Else was the audiobook that I dreamed it would be.
