In the world we live in, there is a lot of white noise. There are so many voices out there yearning to be heard but no one takes the time to listen. It’s in this world where we want our voices to be heard. However, it isn’t that easy. We talk over ourselves and nothing is accomplished. By listening, we can learn more about ourselves and the people around us.
This is what I learned by reading the short poetry collection No One Listens by Lady Byrd. It’s so important to listen and this collection helps me understand why. It is different from the usual poetry I read, but I found it insightful and relatable. So let’s get to the review!

No One Listens

My Rating: 3 pens!
Goodreads Synopsis: This book features life experiences of a young poet coming into her truth. Finding the beauty and pain that comes with words. Expressing deep emotions, such as joy, humor, despair, and heartbreak. Ultimately leading to her awakening.
Topics and Triggers: listening, heartbreak, religion, suicide
I received a copy of No One Listens by the author Lady Byrd in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The poems in this collection vary in style. Some have a more modern take on poetry, while others follow a more traditional structure. The combination of the two styles was something interesting that I enjoyed reading. However, the fonts chosen for the poems are a bit all over the place and it makes it hard to focus as the fonts were always changing.
This collection focuses on learning to listen. Whether it’s to yourself or to the people around you, listening is key in life. I found that a lot but not all of the poems were relatable. There are brief mentions of religion and suicide.
There is a lot of emotion behind these poems. I feel like the author is reaching through the pages and speaking directly to me about her experiences. It is a strong and powerful emotion that radiates through the text of the book.
No One Listens is a quick poetry collection that focuses on the world through listening. So many things go unheard in this world, that taking the time to listen can change everything. The emotions that Lady Byrd puts into the poems are strong and relatable. However, the poem fonts change frequently which is a bit of a distraction. I did like the mix of traditional and modern poetry in this collection.

Thanks for bringing a poetry collection to my attention, I don’t read a lot of poetry but I need to diversify my reading a lot more so I probably should!
Poetry is a great way to diversify your reading. It’s something I just started reading within the last year and have enjoyed it so much. The best thing about poetry is that there is something for everyone. If you’re looking for a particular subject, under the reviews tab if you click on genres, at the bottom I’ve broken down all of the poetry collections I’ve reviewed into genres. I hope you enjoy reading poetry!
I have never read a book entirely dedicated to poetry, I do appreciate a good poem here and there though.

I have just recently gotten into poetry. I love reading individual poems though. I found a lot of the poets I read by their Instagram posts of individual poems.
I have decided I am too lazy for poetry since I’ve retired, but when I am in the mood, I tend to fall into it
Being in the right mindset for reading poetry is important in order to enjoy it. I like poetry books because they are quick reads that pack a punch.
Poetry can be so tough to read. It’s one of those things that is so personal to the writer that reading it can be hard.

I have found that poetry is only really enjoyable when it’s relatable to the reader. If it’s not, then it’s not really enjoyable and can be quite boring.
Seems like an enjoyable, quick read that made you think a little, if nothing else.

It did. Although not was short, it made an impact!
I think the changing of the fonts would annoy me.
It would have annoyed me more if the book was longer. But other than that, I thought it was a good collection.
