I have been in a serious poetry kick lately. When I started following some Amanda Lovelace and Jennae Cecelia on Instagram, I came across Xavier Words (linked to Instagram). Now, his Instagram is full of his work including from ThankU. I fell in love with reading the posts that I immediately put this poetry collection on my Amazon wishlist. It took some time, but I finally was able to get a copy and now I have thoughts to share with you!
This poetry collection has been different than the ones I’ve previously read and reviewed. It focuses a lot on loving yourself and growing as a person. This is something that is unique in the poetry world, and something so valuable to read. So let me get to the review.

Just like all modern poetry collections, it has a variety of short and long poems that read as flowing thoughts. It is something that I truly enjoy reading.
I found that many of these poems were very relatable. They tackle topics of self-love, loving someone, and living life. The poems show how loving yourself can help your overall way of life and make you feel better in a relationship. I love the messages the poems relayed and really was drawn to a lot of the poems.
This part is a little bit weird for me, especially because of how relatable this collection was to me, but I didn’t feel an overpowering emotion to these poems. I found that they were very honest and real, but that was it. I think this has to do with the lightness of the topic, whereas I’m used to reading more hard-hitting topics.
The illustrations in this collection are stunning! They are large and detailed. Some even separate the text. They flowed perfectly with the poem on the page. The illustrations are definitely a great bonus for this book.
ThankU is a wonderful poetry collection about loving yourself. It is relatable and delivers a great message about self-loving being the key to happiness. I recommend reading this book to anyone that needs some self-love in their life.

Getting people to want to read poetry can feel like getting kids to love bedtime. But your review is beautiful and speaks to me and hopefully others who will give Xavier a tumble. THANKU!
Thank you! Finding poetry to enjoy is hard. You have to find something you can relate with. I hope you enjoy reading ThankU.
This is new to me. I think, well I know I need to add more potery into my reading. I use to enjoy it so much in my teen years.

glad you liked it
Thanks!
I really wish that I could get into poems, but I find them hard to get interested in. Loved hearing your thoughts on the book.
Poetry is something that needs to speak to you so it can be hard to find something to be interested in.
Sounds like a great little collection of poems!
It is! Definitely recommend if you are wanting to learn to love yourself.
This sounds great! I’m always looking out for good poetry collections, and learning self-love is so important! This would be a nice addition to my husband’s high school classroom library. Great review!
