Today, I’m starting a completely new segment on Bound to Writing. I’ve been helping writers with my Writing Resources and Tools page and readers with my Readers Resources. But what about my writers that are ready to promote their books? Well, I’m starting a Book Marketing Resource page for those that need a push in the right direction.
Book Marketing takes a lot of time and energy. There is no shortcut to that. And you feel like you need to be on social media 24/7 to make sales. But posting on social media doesn’t have to be so strenuous.
This is where Tailwind comes in. It’s a social media scheduler that will help you relax on the social media front so you can go back to doing what you do best: writing. Because unfortunately, books don’t write themselves. (But if by some magic you find out how to accomplish this, please tell me your ways!) So what is Tailwind and why is it useful to you? Let’s take a deeper look into the program.

What is Tailwind?
Tailwind is a social media scheduling tool that uses optimizing capabilities to post on Pinterest and Instagram. There are a ton of features that allow you the freedom to make Tailwind work for your needs as a social media marketer.
How Have I Used Tailwind?
I’ve been using Tailwind Plus for over a year now and have seen nothing but growth in my blog and on Pinterest.
Before I started using Tailwind, I only had 4 followers on Pinterest and less than 50 views a week with steady posting and reposting (5+ times a day). Now that I’ve started using Tailwind I see over 80k views on my Pinterest page and have over 100 followers.
Likewise on my blog. The traffic before Tailwind brought only around 10 people from Pinterest to my blog. After I started using Tailwind I receive over 500 unique visitors to my blog a month. Tailwind has been one of the best investments I’ve made for myself in my blogging career.
During June of 2018, when I released my first book, Not Like Everyone Else, I used Tailwind to schedule posts up to the release day. That month I had over 900 views from Pinterest. That’s why I believe Tailwind is a fantastic tool for promoting your book.
Why Should You Use Tailwind?
Tailwind has a variety of ways that are useful to promote on Pinterest.
Optimized Scheduling
Tailwind offers a great tool that picks up the habits of your Pinterest viewers and offers the optimized times to post so those viewers will see your content.
SmartLoop
SmartLoop is a scheduling tool that you add posts to be posted to a specific board or particular time of year. It’s great to recycle your more popular posts and filter them back through the Pinterest logs for more people to see.
Tailwind Tribes
Tribes are a valuable way to insert content besides your own into your Pinterest schedule. Join a tribe in your particular niche and start adding other people’s posts to your schedule. It not only helps to promote your work, but promoting others is a good way to increase your credibility.
Insights
Tailwind provides you insights into how your content is reaching people and how those people are interacting with your content. By looking into your insights, you’ll be given a better picture of what you need to do to enhance your Pinterest marketing technique.

What is the Downside of Tailwind?
There are some limitations to Tailwind that you need to consider before you decide to pay for the Plus plan.
Social Media Limitations
Right now, Tailwind only works for Pinterest and Instagram. This means that you will have to find another social media scheduler if your marketing plan includes Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and more.
Tribe Limitations
There are a lot of tribes on Tailwind that can meet your potential needs, but some have low activity. With low activity, your pins won’t be repinned as often, and you may not be able to repin other people’s content.
Android Limitations
Currently, the Tailwind app is good for reposting content on Pinterest itself instead of just the Tailwind tribes. However, you can’t repost content if you have an Andriod phone. This limitation makes it hard when you’re on the go and need to use a computer to make sure your Tailwind schedule is full of unique content.
How Can Tailwind Benefit Your Book?
Now, you may be wondering how will Tailwind help with your book marketing strategy? Tailwind allows you to schedule in advance content you’d like. It’s a set and forget kind of system. By using Tailwind for your Pinterest needs, you’ll be able to put your content out into the Pinterest world and have people find it at any given time because Pinterest is a search engine. Make sure your content is a large and tall graphic with a description with keywords. People will find out all about your book.
Another positive to using Tailwind for your book promotion is that you can schedule a SmartLoop just for your book. Always use unique content to show off how amazing your book is and give a reason for why people should buy your book. Share on X
By using Tailwind, you’ll be able to promote your book on Pinterest all in one place without the hassle of scheduling a post during release week.

I’ve heard of Tailwind but we’re not ready to market our book. I love all your detail and explanations, especially the graph. Wasn’t sure how helpful it would be. Sounds like a great way to get your name out there. Thanks Jenn ❤️❤️

Tailwind is good for all stages of writing and or blogging. I’ve received a lot of traffic to my blog thanks to Tailwind. I’m glad you enjoyed my post Dani! ❤️
I have been hearing about Tailwind every time I see a post about Pinterest. Maybe one of these days I will take a jump and start using it as well. Thank you!

You should try it! And there is a no obligation trial period for your first 100 pins. Though I do suggest using it for a month or two before deciding because I didn’t see progress until month 3 and it’s taken off from there. Let me know how it works out for you!
