Over two years ago, I posted my answers to the questions my good blogging friend Lacy asked about my current writing. Well, in the spirit of a tag post, I tagged some other author friends with a list of my own questions. It’s been two years and today I’m going to answer the questions I posed in my first Rising Author tag post myself.

Do you write the title before, during, or after the writing process?
During the writing process. As I’m writing the first draft, I usually have some inspiration. That inspiration pulls a title that fits with the project.
What is your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre to write is contemporary. When I first started writing, I loved writing mysteries. Though mysteries still have my heart, I find that contemporaries come easier to me nowadays. Maybe one day I will return to writing mysteries when the inspiration strikes.
Is there a genre you want to try to write?
I’d love to try writing romance. I love reading about love stories, but it’s not ever something I’ve tried writing before.
Where is your favorite write spot?
I love being comfortable when I write, so I like to write in my bed. The only downside is that I get too comfortable and have a hard time focusing on writing when I’m in bed.
Do you handwrite or type your first draft, and why?
Type! I tried my hand at handwriting my drafts for my first few books, but I absolutely hated having to type it out in later drafts. Sometimes I will write out small sections if I’m away from my computer. Handwriting just isn’t for me.
Can you tell us about your current WIP?
My current WIP is draft 2 of my contemporary novel written in verse. It’s been some time since I’ve picked it up, but I’m hoping to get back to it very soon.
What makes you most excited about your current WIP?
This WIP is my most personal project I’ve ever worked on. It’s near and dear to my heart. I’ve never felt so much emotion or drive for my writing than I do with this project and with these characters.
What do you hate (feel unsatisfied) about your current WIP?
I wrote the first draft completely out of order. Now, I’m regretting that decision as I have to write new scenes and reorder everything.
Where’s your favorite place to do research for your WIP?
On my laptop. The internet contains so much worthwhile information. If I can’t find what I need on the internet, my next place would have to be my local library.
