It’s the halfway point of the year which means it’s time for a writing update. Be prepared. The following post contains a lot of vulnerability from the author who is going through a rough patch in her writing career. This post wasn’t easy to write, but it has been good to write down the reality of being an author from my perspective.
Honestly, it’s hard being an author. There is so much that goes into it. From writing, editing, marketing, and all of the little details between. It can be overwhelming. Yet, I love it.
Lately, though, it’s been hard. I feel like I can’t find my audience. The traction I had gathered from the release of Speaking the Truth of Family, seems to have disappeared. Everything I do or post doesn’t feel like I’m doing much of anything. Putting in all of this effort, following my planning which has worked before, seems to be for nothing. It’s hard.
But, I’m going to continue pushing forward. To help other authors. To write stories that people can resonate with. Everything I’ve ever wanted to do.
In the last six months:
I’ve written 8,500 words in book two of the Speaking the Truth Series.
I’ve published the Book Marketing Planner.
I’m working on another marketing planner set to release Fall 2023.
I’ve been marketing Speaking the Truth of Family like crazy.
I’m celebrating my 1st book, Not Like Everyone Else’s 5th birthday!
In the next six months:
I want to finish book two of the Speaking the Truth Series.
Publish my second Book Marketing planner.
Start book three of the Speaking the Truth Series
Start/Finish edits for book two of the Speaking the Truth Series.
Celebrate The Stranger I Knew’s 3rd birthday!
Celebrate Speaking the Truth of Family’s 1st birthday!
Thanks for sticking around through my writing update. With motivation a bit lacking right now, I can only hope that things turn around during the remaining months of the year.
Until next time,
Keep Writing!
